Introducing Accademia

Accademia del Caffè Espresso is a cultural hub focused on
understanding and promoting espresso coffee.

 

Housed in the old La Marzocco’s factory, Accademia is a multi-purpose center containing: La Marzocco’s company museum and historical archive, an indoor coffee plantation, research and education laboratories, and the Officine Fratelli Bambi – a workshop dedicated to craftsmanship and artistry, producing bespoke espresso machines.

For those who are interested in the pleasure of visiting our facilities, learning about our history and the traditions of Handmade in Florence since 1927, or deep diving into the technology behind the espresso machine and rituals, of exploring the world and people of coffee well as take part in a more expanded “La Marzocco Experience”… the Accademia Del Caffè Espresso is the place to be; it is the old factory that unfolds a new path where legacy meets vision.

Visits to Accademia are by reservation only. We organise interactive tours on week days (Monday-Tuesday / Thursday-Friday) by appointment only.

PUBLIC TRANSIT
The Accademia can be reached by public transit taking bus number 25 A from the Florence center at Piazza San Marco – Via La Pira stop.
The bus departs from via La Pira at 9:28am most weekdays and arrives in front of the Accademia (stop “I Cipressini” – make sure to tell the driver you need to get off at this stop) at 9:50am.

The visitor walks through the historical building, accompanied by specialised guides on the discovery of the main elements contributing to the creation of espresso coffee, each in its own unique way.

History, technology, and biology mingle in a spectacular, interdisciplinary narrative that involves all the senses.

The museum tour can be complemented by a coffee tasting. The tasting session consists of degustation of various seasonal coffee variations. Instructors also dive into the description of the seed-to-cup process, offering insight into the fascinating world of coffee.
