Luise Metelka winner of the NZ Barista Championship 2021, commented on a her Instagram @wanderluise. “I was over the moon when I heard that La Marzocco is one of this year’s sponsors!” – Luise
Hanna Teramoto of the Woozoo Group in Auckland was runner-up. With Frank Hsu of Frank’s in Wellington placed third in the competition. The event was held at Expressions Whirinaki Arts & Entertainment Centre from 20 to 21 March.
The competitors in the 2021 – NZ Barista Championship competed using the La Marzocco 2 Group AV Linea PB. The PB is an espresso machine that is found in cafes and restaurants all across New Zealand. And that was a big factor in choosing the espresso machine for the championship. We believe the competition should feel accessible to all. Having a machine that competitors could easily get their hands on was important to us.
La Marzocco New Zealand offers our congratulations to Luise. We look forward to following her journey as she goes on to represent New Zealand in the World Barista Championship in 2022.
