You’ll find Manna Café on Auckland’s North Shore in Birkenhead. The Café, also known as Manna Coffee and Bread, recently commissioned a custom KB90 from our team at La Marzocco.
They drew their design inspiration from France with soft blue panels giving a nod to the French style breads made fresh on the premises. The French blue panels were paired with a complementing, vibrant and cheerful mustard yellow.
“We wanted something that represents us, something that stands out and also fits in to the aesthetic of our place. It was so easy working with La Marzocco – it’s always great to work with a team that understands us and has been working with us for quite some time now.” said the owner, Jay Gu.
The machine arrived at the beginning of Auckland lockdown 2.0 and has been making coffees with beans from Be Specialty Roasters and Rocket Coffee ever since. Manna’s specialty is the flat white, although the primal pull of an espresso shot is not far behind. Their breads are renowned amongst Birkenhead locals and often the bacon and egg rolls are sold out before brunch even begins.
We asked Jay what he thought about working on the KB90.
“This year Manna will be trading for 6 years. We’ve always wanted a La Marzocco machine and it just made sense for us to get the KB90. The straight in portafilter is an ergonomic game changer for any barista. Not to mention the fact that it is shiny and modern with elements of mid-century art deco design. It’s almost Jetsonian. We like it very much!”
We think Manna Coffee & Bread Store is definitely worth the stop in if you are in the Birkenhead area.
